Sita Ray

"At my Home in Japan"

It is a unique book by Sita Ray on scenically beautiful area of southern Tokyo (Ohta-Ku) during cherry blossoms season where she lived. Inspired by these views she sketched and animated the scenes with gentle wash of colors. Simultaneously she recorded her poetic musings around the images she captured, words that eventually became part of overall painting surface. Going through those words one gets an impression of her deep attachment to her second home which she loved so much, yet had to leave.

This poetic feeling, originally expressed in words of Bengali: her mother tongue, were translated in English and Japanese. It is a very special repertoire of Sita Ray's personal tribute to Japan's season, artistic ambience and peaceful lifestyle

The poems and paintings are likely to strike differenet chords and convey specific meanings to her readers depending on their own experience and mental state. This work with multiple dimensions, may serve as milestones in Indo-Japan cultural arena and enhance their mutual understanding and appreciation.
